Nordic walking comes from Finland. In the '30s, cross country skiers worked out during summer time by walking with poles.
The first steps of walking with poles appeared in the '70s before being launching officially as Nordic walking in 1997.
It has become a very popular outside sport, particularly in Europe, with more than 10 million all over the world.
Helene’s Nordic Walking classes address everybody in the Bay area concerned to be in great shape. She offers a new and very healthy workout approved yet by a lot of different medical practitioners and hundreds of customers she trained in Belgium before moving in the US in 2018.
It’s the only discipline that ensures you to mobilize 90% of your muscles without pain and make you happier as of the first session.

What is Nordic walking?

Nordic walking completes the brisk walking with the use of specific poles that can propel us by increasing our walking speed while relieving our joints.
It solicits 90% of the muscle chains in the same dynamic movement (thighs, calves, ankles, arms, pectorals, back, shoulders, neck and pelvic floor).
This sport can be practiced calmly and regularly by everybody (except people suffering from an inflammatory crisis of osteoarthritis and arthritis, tendinitis, sprain) or more sustained for a trained public.
It is recommended for all those who wish to gradually return to physical activity, who wish to lose weight or who have joint disorders. Or just maintain or intensify their training and have a greater life!
Nordic walking with Helene
After a successful sales career during 15 years for big companies in France, Helene did a reconversion when she moved to Belgium.
Passionate about sport and outdoor activities, she was certified as a personal trainer and lifeguard by the French Community Wallonie Brussels Federation in Belgium.
Helene became interested in Nordic walking. She took two poles in hand and found herself embarrassed ... How to use them to get the best benefits?
As a perfectionist, this led her to learn and train herself with different organizations and federations in Belgium and France. Thus, she can share with you one of her favorite activities in addition to her previous aquatic activities.
She is looking forward to introducing you and take you to ten thousand strides as recommended by the World Health Organization!

Nordic walking can't be improvised.
This is why Nordic walking initiation is essential to master the technique.
Nordic walking allows you to work your posture, deep bodybuilding, and perform your endurance.
Nordic walking requires a particular technique.
During the initiation session, according to the German-Swiss ALFA method, I propose to focus on:
* the grip of the pole,
* the technique of releasing and grasping/pushing,
* arm/leg synchronization
* the work of the posture and the rotation of the trunk,
* active work of the feet and breathing.
* climbing and descending techniques.
Minimum 4 persons by session.
Made on the iron horse trail, Mount Diablo State Park or any other convenience,
4 pers. minimum or individual session under conditions.
Poles available included for the initiation session.
2.Ready to practice 90 min?
Weekly walk of 1:30
warm-ups, 80 min walking following by some stretching.
$15/class or $50/month
limited to 10/12 people
$5 per pair of poles if needed
Private classes (individual, club or company) under conditions.
It only requires a soft and comfortable outfit (training, canvas pants),
a pair of comfortable sneakers or low-rise walking shoes and a bottle of water to hydrate.
